Even though eye protection is a necessary part of riding a motorcycle that doesn’t mean that the eye protection has to be prescription. I always had the problem that if wore my glasses while riding, so that I could see the road and the signs, when I looked down at my speedometer I could not read it. And bifocals? Forget about it.
Try Wearing A Helmet With Glasses
I wear a full face helmet. I like the way it looks and feels slightly safer than a skullcap. Trying to squeeze my glasses in between the padding of the helmet and my head ends up are ripping out all the little hairs along the sides of my head (or at least that’s how it feels). I can’t see my speedometer any ways so I’m really not sure why I bother. Lasik surgery can perform an operation called mono vision. Daily one of your eyes alone and correct the other. Now you can see close up and far away, one for each eye. No more glasses, no more trying to turn your heads just so to read the speedometer, and no more opening the visor of to push your glasses up because their site and on your nose.
But Does It Work?
I know a biker that definitely improved her ride with this type of Lasik surgery. She did have to have a done again in two years but that’s a risk you take. Another person has the same type of surgery and ends up loving it. Some people have tried contacts in mono vision but many experienced dizziness and queasiness. Though halos are sometimes a problem with people having had Lasik surgery, more often than not I’m seeing bikers and up very happy with the results of the Lasik mono vision surgery.
